False accusations can ruin lives, and no one knows it better than Korean actor Kang Eun Il. In 2018, Kang was hanging out with friends at a restaurant, where he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the bathroom stall. He refuted the allegations, saying that the woman had threatened him for money. But despite his claims, Kang was sentenced to six months in prison based solely on the accuser's testimony during the first trial.

 

Kang's story resurfaced on a recent episode of tvN STORY's No Way I'm An Adult, where forensic video analysis expert Dr. Hwang Min Goo analyzed the surveillance videos from the restaurant to prove Kang's innocence. The footage showed 'A' following Kang into the bathroom, and from the vent, it was visible that Kang went to the men's stall while 'A' went to the women's stall. There was no movement for a while until the door of the women's stall opened, and 'A' walked out. If Kang had gone into the women's stall, as claimed by 'A,' the video would have caught his feet moving towards it, and the door of the stall should have opened. But after 'A' going in there, there is no one walking into the same stall, and the door only opened again when 'A' walked out.

The evidence was compelling, and with Dr. Hwang's analysis, Kang was proven innocent and released from prison. However, the false allegations took a huge toll on his life, and he was expelled from his agency, lost all his endorsement deals, and suffered a lot of mental and emotional distress. It was only after being acquitted of the charges that he began to rebuild his life.

The incident has sparked public outrage, with many netizens expressing their anger at the false accusations and the legal system's failure to protect an innocent. Some even went so far as to suggest that the woman who accused Kang should face a harsher sentence than what he endured.
